Five Things To Do After School

Join a sports team if you’re looking for something to do after school.

1. Sports, Clubs, School Activities

Hang out with friends, get some exercise, or explore your hobbies by going to a school club or sports meeting after school. There are plenty of sports teams in Darien, so you are sure to find something that interests you. If you can’t, there are tons of clubs you could join as well. And if you aren’t interested in any clubs at DHS, then you can start your own.

2. Volunteering

If you’re looking for something to do, take an hour a week to volunteer. (RDNE Stock project)

Maybe spend a few hours a week volunteering. There are many volunteer organizations nearby that have open spots, including Person to Person, and you can also volunteer on your own. Reach out to an elderly neighbor or a family with young kids and see if you can do something for them.

3. Play a Game

Board, Card, or video games: Take your pick. (Nik Korba)

Gather some friends and family, or find a game that you can play on your own. Take a quick break and disconnect by playing a board or card game, or join your friends online in a video game. The offline option is always best, but find something that calms you down and gets you ready to do some work.

4. Get Food

Before you start your studying, go out to get a late lunch or afternoon snack. Or you can make something on your own or with your friends. ( Sander Dalhuisen)

If you aren’t quite ready to study, you can take a quick break with friends, or by yourself, and get a bite to eat. Maybe you can study while you are eating, or just use the time to take a break.

5. Study

No one wants to spend their night cooped up in a room studying and doing homework. If you do your work right when you get home every day, it won’t build up and you will get the rest of the day to yourself. You can take a break to do one of these other activities, but in the end, you need to study anyway so try to get a head start.
