Homecoming Friday brought out the best—and most unfortunate—costumes from our fall sports teams. Following the traditional format of funny and purposefully ugly outfits for underclassmen while seniors get the glamorous looks, each team embraced their theme with enthusiasm.
Cross Country: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The cross country team struck gold with their Willy Wonka-inspired theme. While seniors sparkled in yellow mini dresses as golden tickets, underclassmen fully committed to the factory workers and unfortunate visitors aesthetic.
“Funny but itchy and uncomfortable,” said junior Jane Huffman, who dressed as an Oompa Loompa. “Cross country is one of the best ones, it’s really funny.”
The team featured a full cast including the iconic Oompa Loompas in their orange faces and green wigs, a purple-faced Violet Beauregarde, and an oversized Augustus Gloop. The contrast between the seniors’ cute golden ticket dresses and the deliberately ridiculous underclassmen costumes perfectly captured the spirit of the day.

Field Hockey: SpongeBob SquarePants
The field hockey team dove deep into Bikini Bottom with their SpongeBob theme. Players transformed into everyone’s favorite sea creatures, from the optimistic sponge himself to the grumpy Squidward. Patrick Star made multiple appearances, while seniors took on the coveted role of Sandy the squirrel.
Volleyball: The Greatest Showman
The volleyball team chose the circus spectacular theme of The Greatest Showman. Morgan embodied the cartoon man from the film, bringing theatrical flair to the hallways alongside teammates dressed as other colorful circus performers.

Other Teams Join the Fun
Cheerleaders went full Despicable Me with their Minion costumes, bringing yellow chaos and googly eyes.
Swimming and Diving ventured to a galaxy far, far away with their Star Wars theme, featuring golden C-3PO robots, and so much more.
Soccer raced into the day with a Mario Kart theme, transforming players into beloved Nintendo characters ready to compete for first place.
Football kept it classic with their jerseys, letting their on-field uniforms do the talking.
Post 53 coordinated with full yellows and a cervical collar for freshmen while other grades represented in their homecoming shirts.

The hallways buzzed with laughter, photo opportunities, and the occasional complaint about itchy costumes—all signs of a successful Homecoming Friday. While comfort may have been sacrificed, school spirit certainly wasn’t, as each team brought creativity and enthusiasm to their chosen themes.
