Concerts are always fun filled experiences – listening to your favorite artists in person and singing along with the passionate crowd is an unforgettable memory. Living near popular concert venues comes with great perks as popular artists never hesitate to make it a stop on their tour and attract fans from our area. Just a train ride or car trip away are huge stadiums such as Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, Metlife Stadium, and Citi Field. These venues and others, are constantly filled with concerts, small and large, and there is no doubt that you will find one of your favorite music artists there.
This summer, some of the most popular artists will be passing through this area and it might just be a Darien student’s favorite one.
Starting in June with an enormous music event in New York: Governor’s Ball brings several well-known artists into one location for our enjoyment. On Friday, the opening day of the event, Tyler the Creator and Benson Boone will be taking the lead as tens of thousands of teenagers and adults fill the park with bright outfits, extravagant hairdos, and shining body glitter.
On Saturday, Olivia Rodrigo and Feid have already sold out the General Admissions tickets for the day as they attract an astounding crowd. Finally, on Sunday, Hozier and Glass Animals will close out the event with a sure-to-be memorable ending to this energetic weekend.
This event does not just bring two stars each day, they have 20 artists filling the stage each day from around noon until past dark. Darien students and kids from towns surrounding the area pack the train out of Noroton Heights or the Darien station as hundreds ride into the City, follow into the subway, and file out into Flushing Meadows Corona Park for a fun but exhausting day.

July is packed with appearances by favorite artists in the genre of country and folk.
Zach Bryan is back again as he plans to play three nights in Metlife Stadium. This venue is just a mere one hour away from us and fills with around 80,000 fans in nearly sold-out shows. Bryan recently became a popular star amongst his fellow country artists with prominent songs one is sure to hear a Darien student singing at one time or another. When asked around, 6 out of 10 Darien junior students said they have been to one of his concerts and some are looking for round two!
Along with Zach Bryan, the Lumineers are beginning their world tour in April and will be playing near us in two different venues in July: Citi Field and Mohegan Sun Arena. They had recently released a new album called “Automatic” which drew mixed reviews. While some are impressed with their lyric writing and overall song creations, others say they are too similar to their older songs. Still, their tour is proving to be a popular upcoming event in support of their new album and several of their most popular songs.
Concerts can be life-changing and create memories that never fade. Even when the concert ends, some say they still remember the incredible feeling of being in such an inspiring atmosphere. Living in a place that is in the close proximity of various concert venues, we have the lucky opportunity to experience events such as these. Governors Ball, Zach Bryan, and the Lumineers will surely not disappoint!
