Why Do We Still Love Ferris Bueller Today?

An icon from the movie that transcends its own time
    Why+Do+We+Still+Love+Ferris+Bueller+Today%3F

We all know the movie about the giant teenager who skips school and gets away with it. The 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” Directed by John Hughes is one of the most iconic in America and always will be. But why? Many critics believe that The film was sloppily written and didn’t even have a point to the story. But I believe that this contributes to why the film has been so adhesive to everyone’s TVs over the years.

One thing about Ferris Buller is that he’s a kid who gets away with EVERYTHING. This is quite literally everyone’s wish. He can skimp classes, fake sick, never be at school, and he will get away with it but not only that. He is so loved by everyone in his school. The main character himself is something that makes viewers watch the film, it’s because he is living the teenage dream. Teens who watched this in the 80s found him very admirable, and when they got older they wanted to show their kids what life was like in the eighties. From the parade, the school life, the clothes, the personalities, and everyday life.

Another thing that makes this movie admired is the directing. John Hughes is a very famous director, but he also targets movies and scripts about American teenage suburban life. This grabs the attention of everyone who lives an American suburban life which is a lot of humans, this also targets people who admire the simple and fun life he makes in his movies. Jointly, his directing has been implemented in so many films and TV shows. For example, in the 2017 Marvel film “Spider-Man Homecoming”, during the scene where is is running to catch up with a criminal car with alien technology inside, director Jon Watts duplicates the camera work and the running through people’s lawns that John Hughes used to create the scene where Ferris was trying to beat his mom, dad, and sister home. This reflects John Hughes’s impact on the film community and why others would want to watch his movies, especially Ferris Bueller.

The last thing that I feel really connects to the reason why people love the movie The Ferris Bueller, is that Cameron is sort of a different view of the American Suburban teenage life. while Ferris has a good life his parents are nice to him, everybody loves him, he doesn’t have anxiety really because he believes he can always get away with his lies, Cameron is quite the opposite. Cameron is a hypochondriac which means that he believes that he is in grave danger concerning his health, he has a horrible relationship with his father, and he has a lot of anxiety. this gives a different perspective on the American Suburban Teenage life that some people face, and in some of the other movies in the ’80s, this side of Teenage life was not shown. I think people like to see the other side of what seems to be perfect life.

If you have not watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, please watch it. I’m sure you’ll want to show it to your kids because of the fascinating life of Ferris Bueller living the teenage dream, the amazing directing by John Hughes, and the Different perspective of the American Suburban life.
