Four Fabulous Coffee Alternitives
While there is no true substitution for a good night’s sleep, coffee can pretty much do the trick. The simple fact of the matter is that high school requires late nights and sometimes we all need a little help getting going before that bell rings at 7:40. If you are looking for something besides coffee to help you out in the morning, here are a few options to switch up your routine:
By far, the best natural alternative to coffee is tea. Tea has a lower concentration of caffeine than coffee, however, it is a healthier option because cream and sugar aren’t necessary. Tea also contains more antioxidants than which is an added benefit.
The second best natural alternative to coffee is dark chocolate. 1 oz of dark chocolate contains 12 mg of caffeine whereas 1 oz of coffee contains 11.875 mg of caffeine. Dark chocolate is a more potent source of caffeine than coffee so if you are looking for a sweet small pick-me-up, dark chocolate is the perfect choice.
Natural sources of caffeine are limited, so new caffeinated products frequently hit the market. These two products are healthier synthetic options.
Jolt Caffeine Energy gum is probably the most interesting item on this list. Two pieces of this gum contains 26mg of caffeine. The gum comes in a variety of mint flavors and 12 packs of the gum are sold for $18.49 online.
Nuun Sport + Caffeine is a dissolvable tablet designed to help replenish electrolytes, however, it also contains 40mg of caffeine per tablet. These tablets come in many flavors such as cherry limeade, fresh lime, mango orange, and wild berry. Nuun is sold in tubes of 10 tablets for a price of $7.00.
Once again I am going to tell you to sleep rather than relying on caffeinated products, but if you want to switch up your routine, the options above are relatively accessible and healthy choices.
