With the kickoff of the 2024-2025 school year, students have made their ways back to the campus of Darien High School. Spending their days in the classrooms learning, participating in extracurricular activities, and cheering on the DHS Football team at Friday night home games. While students are settling back into their high school routine, it is still fun to look back and see what students did off campus over the summer break!
Over the past summer, DHS students were able to relax, stop thinking about school, and travel the world (at least for a few months). Being in High School can be stressful, and there’s no better escape than physically leaving the town to explore new places! Through the months of June, July, and August 67.1% of students spent their time traveling. Some popular destinations were Portugal, London, California, Outer Banks, India, and China.
However, not all students spent their time off exploring foreign countries. Many students worked locally at beach clubs as either lifeguards or camp counselors. Others spent their time babysitting, and some employees at restaurants, local pharmacies such as Griebs, and grocery stores. Hopefully all that hard work paid off for the school year for back to school shopping!
Lastly, some students took their time off extra seriously and decided on a full reset. Many students spent their time playing video games, exercising, playing sports, and swimming at the beach!
It seems as though Darien students have had exciting summers where they have been able to reconnect, spend time doing their favorite activities, and prepare themselves for the year ahead. Although starting a new school year can feel overwhelming, the fall season ahead is full of sporting events, bonding with friends, and other exciting new changes.
